[tex]\tan(\Theta) = \dfrac{\text{opp}}{\text{adj}} [/tex]

[tex]\tan(43) = \dfrac{x}{12} [/tex]

[tex]x = \tan(43) \times 12[/tex]

[tex]x = 11.2[/tex]

you have 2 legs and the angle, the angle is opposite to the leg, 
so we can write TAN of the angle

tan(43°)= (opposite leg)/(adjacent leg)
tan(43°)= x/12
x=12*tan(43°)≈ 11.2
