[tex] = (5 + 4 + 5.5 + 4.5 + 5.5) \div 5[/tex]
[tex] = 24.5 \div 5 \\ = 4.9miles[/tex]

Mean means average

Add them all up, then divide by the total amount.

In this case the sum of the 5 values is 24.5 miles

A total of 5 values, so 24.5/5= 4.9 miles

She ran 4.9 miles on average
