The emperors felt as though they were going to lose power and their citizens support, which they did. As Paul ( whose name later becomes Saul), spreader the word of God around Rome to the people. His acts caused citizens to turn to God as their one and only rather than the emperors. This leads to the fall of the Roman Empire.
