Answer is: Carl Ritter.
Carl Ritter (1779 –1859) was a German geographer (one of the founders of modern geography) and scientist.
His nineteen-volume work is "Geography in Relation to Nature and the History of Mankind", written 1816–1859. Work was left incomplete at the time of Ritter's death.
