The Maya civilization thrived between AD 600 –AD 800 where members had complex languages such as phonetic representations and pictograms. The Maya people produced books called codices that contained their history. During the colonization of South America, missionaries destroyed most of the codices with only three remaining namely; Dresden codex, Madrid codex and the Paris codex.
