Solve the following equation |2x+5|=9

There is NO SOLUTION to this equation as you can't solve what is inside the absolute value signs. The 2x and 5 cant be combined like terms as 5 doesn't have an x attached to it.

Think of absolute value as distance to a certain point on a number line. it can go either right or left, so it can be both positive and negative
2x+5=9, or 2x+5=-9
now solve both equations:
2x=4 or 2x=-14
x=2 or x=-7
