[tex](-6,1) \\ x_1=-6 \\ y_1=1 \\ \\ (4,-4) \\ x_2=4 \\ y_2=-4 \\ \\ \hbox{the slope: } m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{-4-1}{4-(-6)}=\frac{-5}{4+6}=\frac{-5}{10}=-\frac{1}{2}[/tex]

The slope is -1/2.
