It's a linear equation so it's going to produce a line.

x-y=4

This means that:

y=x-4

---------

When x=0, y=-4.

When y=0, x=4.

---------

Draw a line that goes through the points (0, -4) and (4, 0).

Ok, I would bend over backwards! :)

x−y=4

Add -x to both sides.

x−y+−x=4+−x

−y=−x+4

Divide both sides by -1.

−y/−1 = −x+4/−1

y=x−4
