During the meiosis phase or sexual reproduction DNA sequences that are close together on a chromosome tend to be inherited together. This is genetic linkage.
Linked genes is the term that is used to describe genes that are located physically close to each other on the same chromosome. These linked genes are on the same chromosome. So the alleles, or gene versions, already together on one chromosome will be inherited as a unit more frequently than not.
