If an object weighing 32lbs is acted upon by a net force of 32 lbs, what will be its acceleration?

the acceleration would be 0 because lifting force up Is the same as the gravity going down. And therefore will not accelerate. The object has no net force

That"s exactly the situation when you drop the object off the roof or out of a tree... then the net force on it is the ONLY force on it, I.e. the force of gravity, and its acceleration is the acceleration due to gravity ... 32 ft/sec^2 .
