Using Two point formula in getting the equation of the line.

[tex]y-y_1=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}(x-x_1)[/tex]

x1 = -6

y1 = -3

x2 = 2

y2 = -5

Substitute to the formula :

[tex]\begin{gathered} y-(-3)=\frac{-5-(-3)}{2-(-6)}\lbrack x-(-6)\rbrack \\ y+3=\frac{-2}{8}(x+6) \\ y+3=-\frac{1}{4}(x+6) \\ y+3=-\frac{1}{4}x-\frac{3}{2} \\ y=-\frac{1}{4}x-\frac{3}{2}-3 \\ y=-\frac{1}{4}x-\frac{9}{2} \end{gathered}[/tex]

The answer is :

y = -1/4 x - 9/2
