Hi!

Proper nouns are defined as "a name used for an individual person, place, or organization, spelled with initial capital letters, e.g., Larry, Mexico, and Boston Red Sox."

Therefore, "plate" is not a proper noun. It is a noun, though. A noun is a person, place, or thing.

Hope this helps! :D
