Applying trigonometry ratios, the value of x is: -0.38

Recall:

Trigonometry ratios are SOH CAH TOA, and are used in solving right triangles.

In the right triangle ABC:

sin B = opp/hyp = b/a (SOH)

cos C = adj/hyp = b/a (CAH)

Therefore:

sin B = cos C

  • Substitute

3x + 0.47 = 4x + 0.85

  • Combine like terms together

3x - 4x = -0.47 + 0.85

-x = 0.38

  • Divide both sides by -1

x = -0.38
