Why does the united states put pressure on the pakistani government?

As you may know, for years Pakistan has been terrorized by rebels. And these rebels have recently begun attacking the United States, so as a result the US Government needs to put a stop to it. and one way we could do this is by pressuring the Pakistani Government to stop these rebels!
