The people who are lynching have the thought process of kill the prosecuter or beat them up really bad, they feel adrenaline and the need to lay the law down themselves. after a lynching the mob typically ends up being ashamed of themselves and they all feel guilty, it depends on who the mob is though-gangs seek revenge, kkk seeks darkness, and mafia- well they seek money and power.
