so you add the miles together and you would get 16 1/8 you add the whole numbers and get 15. you have to change the denominator to equal the same thing so it would change to 2/8 instead of 1/4 and then add it up and get 9/8 so you add a whole number and left with 1/8 and the answer is 16 1/8
