A bacterial membrane is made of a phospholipid bilayer and protein meaning it has the same function of a general cell membrane.
Acts as a permeable barrier for most molecules and transports specific molecules (e.g. nutrients, ions) into the cell. It also protects the cell from toxic substances entering.
