The variable in this equation is b, therefore we have to calculate the value of b.

-38=2b+25-(-7b)
-38=2b+25+7b
2b+7b=-38-25
9b=-63
b=-63/9
b=-7

Answer: the value of the variable is b=-7

We can check it out this answer:
-38=2b+25-(-7b)
-38=2(-7)+25-(-7(-7))
-38=-14+25-49
-38=-38
