0.10d + 0.25q = 5.30
d = q - 10

0.10(q - 10) + 0.25q = 5.30
0.10q - 1 + 0.25q = 5.30
0.10q + 0.25q = 5.30 + 1
0.35q = 6.30
q = 6.30/0.35
q = 18

d = q - 10
d = 18 - 10
d = 8

Ian has 8 dimes (d) and 18 quarters (q)
