ADDING EQATION 2 AND 1

3X + Y – Y = 42

3X = 42

DIVIDING EACH TERM BY 3

3X/3 = 42/3

X = 14

THEN PUTTING X = 14 IN EQUATION  1

14 + Y = 36

Y = 36 – 14
