We know for any rectangle with length l and width, w

Area of rectangle = lw and

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+w)

Suppose the side lengths are doubled

Now length = 2l and width = 2w

New ARea = [tex]2l*2w\\=4lw[/tex]

i.e. 400% times is the new area.

New perimeter = [tex]2(2l+2w) =4(l+w)[/tex]

New perimeter is 200% times the old perimeter.
