You can add $2.55 three times; or you can multiply $2.55 times 3. Either way you will have the answer of $7.65 as your total.

Each earned $2.55, so all you have to do is multiply it by 3. ( multiplying a value by a number is the same thing as adding that value the same number of times as that same number.
