We want to write the given function in the form ax^2 + bx + c = 0.

We foil the left side.

(2x - 1)(x + 5) =0

2x^2 + 10x - x - 5 = 0

2x^2 + 9x - 5 = 0

Can you see the value of "b"?

The b-value is the coefficient of x.

So, b = 9.
