The gravitational field strength on the moon is [tex]\frac{1}{6}[/tex] of the gravitational field strength on the earth

On the earth:

the gravitational field strength (g) is determined as:

[tex]g=G\frac{m}{r^2}[/tex]

where:

  • G: the gravitational constant
  • m: the mass of the earth
  • r: the radius of the earth

[tex]g=9.8 N/kg = 9.8 m/s^2[/tex]

Then on the moon:

[tex]g=[tex]\frac{1}{6}[/tex]*9.8=1.6 N/kg[/tex]

The answer will be : A.1.6 N/kg
