If one angle is x degrees then  its complementary angle is 90 - x degrees.

x is 2 degrees less than (90 - x) degrees so:-

(90 - x) - x = 2

90 -2x = 2

2x = 88

x = 44

the other angle = 90 - 44 = 46 degrees.
