Since mitosis occurs inside of the nucleus, and splitting the nucleus, there is a major difference. Although they are both a form of asexual reproduction, mitosis occurs in eukaryotes, (cells with a nucleus and membrane bound organelles), and binary fission occurs in prokaryotes, (which have no nucleus). Binary fission doesn’t take place in the nucleus.
