when the earth rotates, one hemisphere is experiencing a season, say summer, while the other is experiencing winter. IE, if the earth is tilted in a way where the northern hemisphere is facing towards the sun, it is experiencing summer. At the same time, the southern hemisphere is not facing the sun, therefore it is experiencing winter.
