-3x + 4y = -2

+6x - y = 11

What is the value of the x-coordinate at the point of intersection of these lines?

Let's eliminate y. To do this, multiply 6x - y = 11 by 4, obtaining 24x - 4y = 44.

Combine this result with -3x + 4y = -2:

-3x + 4y = -2

24x - 4y = 44

--------------------

21x = 42, and so x = 2.

The x-coordinate of the solution of this system is 2.
