So remember that slope-intercept form is y = mx+b, with m = slope and b = y-intercept. Since we have the slope (1/2), all we need to do is solve for the b variable. To do this, we will replace the x and y variable with (4,3) and place in our slope to solve for b.

Our equation will look like this: [tex] 3=\frac{1}{2}*4+b [/tex]

Firstly, do the multiplication: [tex] 3=2+b [/tex]

Next, subtract both sides of the equation by 2, and your answer is 1 = b.
